This year, the annual exhibition, Pasarela de la Artes (Bridge of Arts), takes place in Valencia from 6 to 10 June 2018. This event is organized under the patronage of the UNESCO Silk Roads Project, and is supported by the Valencia City Council and the Generalitat Valenciana.

Pasarela de las Artes is a multidisciplinary exhibition that presents a central gateway dedicated to fashion. Participants include emerging talent, alongside other renowned national and international artists. The exhibition serves as a platform to highlight Valencian artists, thereby showcasing art and design in all its facets. Another goal of the Pasarela de la Artes is to increase the visibility and stimulate the economic growth of Valencia. This is possible by touting it as, “Valencia, City of Silk 2016”. Associating the city with wealth, tradition, and culture of the region subsequently elevates its current positioning.  In today’s society, silk is used in the production of traditional Valencian clothing, as well as in contemporary creations of artisanal fashion.

On this occasion, an exhibition about the Silk Roads and its history is also organised in conjunction with a secondary Pasarela de la Artes event. It involves traditional clothing, embroideries, conceptualization of textile drafting, and the implementation of silk in Haute Couture designs, amongst others. In addition to the jewellery exhibitions, paintings and sculptures, a round table of scholars, writers and fashion designers will take place. This will be held on 7 June 2018 during the UNESCO Interactive Atlas conference.
