Piece of Chinese textile

The tomb complexes of Palmyra often included luxurious personal belongings buried with the deceased.

This is an example of a fine silk fabric dyed in a red rose color and ornamented with embroidery of a delicate lily flower colored with yellow, green, brown and pink. The presence of Chinese silk in Palmyra is an indicator of the robust Silk Road trade and the wealth of Palmyrene citizens.
