Natalie Pang completed her BCom at the University of Melbourne, where she began studying the Internet and information systems in the late 1990s. She continued her study of the Internet, its impacts on society and vulnerable populations through her MSc in information studies at Nanyang Technological University, before completing her Doctorate of Philosophy at Monash University, Australia in 2009. Her doctoral work on cultural institutions and participatory technologies in rural communities won her two awards at Monash University.
After completing her doctoral work, she worked at The Gallup Organization on well-being projects in Asia, providing research consultancy to think tanks and public agencies. During this time, she continued to contribute actively to academia through an adjunct teaching appointment at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. In 2011, she took up a full-time academic position at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University and in 2017, she joined the National University of Singapore. Presently, she is Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head at the Communications and New Media Department, Principal Investigator at the Centre for Trusted Internet and Community, and University Librarian at NUS Libraries.
