Describe the main features of the policy/measure:
The main objective of this observatory is to promote the presence of women and equal opportunities in all areas of cultural expressions and decision-making areas of the Ministry of Culture and Sport. To this end, the Observatory analyzes information taking gender into account in order to detect situations of discrimination and to establish corrective measures. It promotes artistic creation and the presence of women in different cultural expressions, the development of databases of experts in gender equality and culture and the work of women and their equal participation in panels of judges and collegiate bodies.
It is made up of representatives of the main women's associations from the different cultural sectors and the Ministry of Culture and Sports. It would also be a good example of the participation of civil society.

What are the results achieved so far through the implementation of the policy/measure?:
The Observatory is a very recent creation. In its first year of operation, it has approved a Work Plan, in the development of which several studies have been carried out, among them one on the application of the Equality Law in the context of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, as well as the preparation of reports with cultural statistical indicators disaggregated by sexes linked to the audiovisual, performing arts and music, books or fine arts and cultural goods. The creation of a Map of Spanish women experts in culture and equality has also been implemented.

The observatory is very recent and hasn`t been evaluated itself, but it promotes several reports on specific sectors, as for example:

- Report on Cultural statistical indicators in the fine arts and cultural heritage, by sex.
- Report on Cultural statistical indicators in the music and performing arts, by sex.
