The main functions of the gender equality unit are:
- Coordination of the Ministry's actions on gender equality.
- Advice and technical support to the different Units of the Ministry so that in their field of action they adopt measures that guarantee full equality between women and men.
- Preparation of studies and technical reports on gender equality policies
- Cooperation with other Administrations and entities to the promotion of equality
- Coordination of the Equality Working Group.
- Creation and permanent updating of the SPACE OF EQUALITY.
- Strategic planning of the Gender Equality Unit.
- Statictics on gender.

What are the results achieved so far through the implementation of the policy/measure?:
The Unity developes the Strategic plan on Equal Opportunities between Women and Men (PEIO 2017 in force) and II Plan of
Equal Opportunities of the State Administration, among other plans.
