Since 2009, the Employment (Non-Citizens) (Restrictions) Exemptions Regulations has been amended and the following categories have been exempted from work permit:
Models and professional entertainers including theatre, motion picture, radio or television artists, and musicians, so that the exemption in respect of any such person by virtue of this class is for the purposes of public shows, or public broadcast.
For foreign artists and cultural professionals traveling to Mauritius, they are being granted 90 days (continuously or not) in a calendar year subject to satisfaction of all Immigration requirements.
The rationale behind such amendment is to attract more foreign artist to perform in Mauritius and indeed it has been the case as those foreigners from countries that do not need a visa may travel freely.
