Have supported funding agencies in improving their viability and measuring their performance by providing advice for Board appointments, assisting and advising portfolio Crown-funded agencies and improving assessment of the performance of Crown-funded agencies.

Have implemented the recommendations of the Cultural Philanthropy Taskforce and are assisting the cultural sector to increase levels of private and philanthropic giving.  Are implementing he outcomes of reviews on the Arts Council, Historic Places Trust and NZ Film Commission.

Developed policy settings for sustainable public broadcasting and managed and are monitoring the transition to digital television.  Have provided advice on legislation, policy and funding to enhance New Zealand content in broadcasting and broadcasting standards.

Work with other agencies and local government to strengthen cultural activity and infrastructure in Auckland and Christchurch.

Provide advice on policy, legislation and funding to enhance cultural sector infrastructure; visual, performing and literary arts; built heritage, museum collections and taonga; and cultural tourism.

Develop the evidence base for the social and economic benefits of culture.
