Caribbean and Central American meeting in the framework of the IATA International Festival Cuba 2016
Restructuring of the geographic area
Elaboration of work strategies to be followed in the next four years
The event, which included a meeting and a group of collateral theatre presentations, counted with the
presence of 14 representatives of the International Amateur Theatre Association (IATA) from Latin
America and three theatre groups from Argentina, Honduras and Cuba. This space showed the
diversity of cultural expressions and the creative dynamics of the different countries where
the theatre is becoming a means to express the social and cultural phenomena of each region.
It was held in Havana from 11 to 13 March.
Election of the area representative (Cuba was elected) before the international organisation.
Reunification of the area to improve work processes and decision-making.
Update of the strategy and annual Work Plan.
Participation of the President of IATA International
Cuba shouldered the accommodation costs of all participants, both national and international.
It was considered to be a positive undertaking since the Central American and Caribbean areas were strengthened. It was restructured and chosen as the venue for the next meeting. It was deemed convenient and pertinent to repeat the experience.
