On 4 July 2018, the Euroepan Parliament voted for the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, Chapter 18 of which refers to the cooperation in the cultural field. In particular, Article 96 highlights that the parties will promote the cooperation in accordance with the principles enshrined in the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions of 2005; and Article 97 specifies the fields that the cooperation will focus on. These are cultural cooperation and cultural exchanges, mobility of art and artists, intercultural dialogue, as well as implementation of Creative Europe Programme, etc.
As a result, in August 2018, the Creative Europe Desk Armenia was established with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the European Commission. The Desk is aimed at raising awareness of the EU programme of cultural grants - Creative Europe, take masures for capacity building of cultural operators, as well as implement measures for providing information about calls for funding, host trainings and consultations.
