The Austrian Film Gender Report is the first comprehensive study providing gender-disaggregated data on the Austrian film sector, referring to the period of 2012-2016. The study was conducted in 2017 and 2018 by Eva Flicker (project lead) and Lena Lisa Vogelmann (key researcher) at the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna. The study was commissioned by the Austrian Film Institute and the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport, following a resolution by the Austrian parliament, in which the evaluation of the distribution of funding between women and men as well as of gender-related inequalities in the Austrian film industry was considered of importance. Data collection was undertaken by the Austrian Film Institute. Data concerning the Vienna Film Academy was provided by the Film Academy itself and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
