Exchange session on lessons learnt and ways forward in the implementation of the project Re|Shaping Policies for Creativity and Artistic Freedom

On the occasion of the 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, representatives from the partner countries of the project Re|Shaping Policies for Creativity and Artistic Freedom will come together for the first time to exchange on good practices to inspire participatory and informed policy dialogue and policy elaboration in favour of strong, dynamic and fair cultural and creative sectors.

Thanks to the generous support of Sweden, UNESCO has partnered with more than 20 countries since 2014 to advance the monitoring of policies and measures promoting creativity, in line with the 2005 Convention for the Protection and the Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. In this context, eleven Parties to the Convention, namely Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Botswana, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mexico, Peru, Senegal, South Sudan, and Sudan are currently launching the project to strengthen participatory, transparent, and evidence-based methodologies for policy monitoring and policy making for creativity. This new phase of the project particularly values peer-to-peer learning and information-sharing among partner countries to promote South-South dialogue and cooperation.

The event will take place on Tuesday 7 February 2023 from 10:00 to 12:00 (Paris time), in room VIII (UNESCO Fontenoy) and online. Representatives of permanent delegations, national commissions, and national points of contact of the 2005 Convention will be convened to take part in the meeting.
