International Youth Forum: Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Road
UNESCO and the China National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with the Municipalities of Changsha and Quanzhou, are organizing the "International Youth Forum: Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Road" in China, from 17 to 22 April 2017.
The Forum will promote youth advocacy on creativity and heritage protection and preservation, in addition to raising awareness among duty-bearers of the importance of youth full engagement in promoting peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
Participants will also be provided with an opportunity to help shape a scholarship and training program on creativity and heritage for youth, as well as to discuss their participation in the UNESCO project on the Creation of an Open Digital Library on Traditional Games.
Participants to the Forum will be drawn from countries along the Silk Road. At least one participant per country will be selected from among the applicants and will be provided with an economy class return air ticket, as well as local travel, accommodation, and meals in China. Non-selected participants who are able to purchase their own air tickets to the IYF will be provided with local travel, accommodation and meals in China upon communication of their arrival and departure flight information to the Organizers.
The Forum is being organized in line with Axis III of the UNESCO Operational Strategy on Youth (2014-2021), the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (1972) and the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005).
