To facilitate national integration and evolve a language of popular communication that will build bridges across ethno-linguistic communities.This will create a sense of unity in engagement and enhance intercultural dialogue and conflict resolution.
To promote Nigerian Literature and sensitize Nigerians on the need to change Nigerian reading culture.This will further deepen the understanding of Nigerian history and a good platform for discovering more litterary talents especially amongs the younger generation;
To preserve Nigerian Cultural Heritage and history.Some oral traditions of intangible cultural heritage are taught,while some are passed to the other generations through Literary Arts.To preserve them,a conscious implementation of thid measure will help preserve our Cultural Heritage.
the National policy shall among all: Undertake research, documentation, and presentation of all Nigerian languages; Promote Nigerian languages at various levels of the educational system; Support and promote Nigerian writers in the production and publication of books, and journals in Nigerian Languages; Encourage the use of Nigerian languages for Government and Official programmes; Identify and document endangered Nigerian languages through the visual literary and performing arts; Encourage the use of Nigerian languages in the print and electronic media; Encourage tertiary institutions and research centres to develop dictionaries and technical and scientific documents in Nigerian languages;Capacity development of cultural officers and finally encourage the public and private sectors to provide increased resources for Nigerian language education
The implementation of this measure will enhance the establishment of institutional framework on intercultural dialogue, national integration, language of popular communication that will build bridges across ethno-linguistic communities;
Promote Indigenous literary Arts.This will contribute to more revenue from the sector and economic development.
Statutory National budgetary allocation. Nigeria is a Federal States, Education is on a concurrent list.State and Local goverments also have budgets for education and Culture
