Ensuring gender equality in the field of culture

An important criterion in assessing gender equality is the engagement of women in the cultural life of the Republic of Belarus. Over the past five years, the employment of women in the field of culture has increased. Today, the entities under the Ministry of Culture of Belarus employ 48,757 women, which is 70% of the total payroll (64,960). The managerial posts are held by 7,137 women, i.e. 78% of the total number of managers (9,159). The positions as specialists in cultural entities are occupied by 29,508 women, which is 79% of the total number of specialists (37,332). More than 40 women working in culture have been awarded the Spiritual Revival Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Over the past five years, women's contributions to culture have been recognized by awarding the Order of Francysk Skaryna to 3 women, the Medal of Francysk Skaryna to more than 40 women. The honorary title of Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus was awarded to 2 women, the titles of Honored Worker of Art to 1 woman, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus to 5 women, People's Artist of the Republic of Belarus (the supreme title) to 1 woman.
